Congratulations to Helen McFadden, a Leaving Certificate student in St. Louis Community School who has been recognised as one of the finalists in the 2016 Pramerica Spirit of the Community Awards for the dedication she has demonstrated in service to the community of St. Louis and her local area of Castlebar. This award is the only all Ireland youth initiative of it’s kind which rewards post primary students for outstanding acts of volunteerism and the positive contribution they make in their local communities. Helen is one of just 20 students in the entire country to be selected for this award and she will be presented with €500. and an engraved silver medallion at a gala awards ceremony at Lough Eske Castle in Co. Donegal on the 10th of March. At the gala, two of the twenty students will be named All Ireland Youth Volunteers of the Year, receiving €1,000 for a charity of their choice, a gold medallion, a crystal trophy for their school and an all expenses paid trip to the United States in May to participate in the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards ceremony.  All the staff and students of St. Louis Community School are so proud of Helen and they are delighted to see her getting the recognition she deserves.
